Austin

It's probably going to be impossible to talk about the Garrett Foster incident in Austin now, since audio snippets and still frames are all we apparently need to prove our various points.

I will simply throw this grenade into the fire...I call it the "front porch" test. If someone was standing on your front porch with a rifle at low ready, how would you react?

Of course context matters. I'm just isolating this one aspect.

Open carry methods can have different types of "social impact". If you choose to OC a rifle on the front of body, and your hands are constantly on the weapon, how is it functionally different than "open carrying" your pistol in your hand?

Respectful discourse welcome. I'm not opining one way or the other on whether Foster should have reacted the way he did, other than to say this all seems like an avoidable tragedy.
