Holsters are not optional accessories

This isn't the first "dog shoots man" story I've seen...
A dog shot a woman while the two were waiting at a train crossing in Enid.
You read that right.

Police in Enid said they responded to a medical emergency Thursday, Oct. 3 around 2:30 pm.

When officers arrived they found 44-year-old Tina Springer, of Nash, in the passenger seat of a F-150 with a gunshot wound to her left thigh.

Medical arrived on scene and began tending to Springer, police said, while they spoke with those on the scene.

The driver of the F-150 told police they were headed to see his brother and were stopped waiting on a train to pass when his dog jumped on the center console.

The dog jumping on the console caused the driver's Ruger .22 pistol to fire a round into Springer's thigh the driver told police.

Police confirmed with the driver that there was no argument happening before the incident occurred.

Officers found the gun lying in the seat under the center console without a holster.

EPD said they found a burn mark under the center console that was consistent with the story.

Springer also confirmed that the dog had shot her with police at the hospital.
