WITAF

In my youth, I will admit I was a member of a violent organization dedicated to regime change and general mayhem.

I speak, of course, of my time in the United States Marine Corps.

Growing up during the Cold War, then attending basic training in the late 80s, you might say that I was conditioned to hate Communism and all it stands for.   Enemies of America, The Russians and the Chinese represented a soulless totalitarian system of oppression the like of which had not been achieved in the history of the world.

Now, as an older, wiser, and more reflective Libertarian?

I FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAY AS I DID WHEN I WAS 18.

It is with this in mind I selected the title of this post:

https://americanmilitarynews.com/2019/10/communist-chinas-flag-raised-above-boston-city-hall-plaza-philly-supported-by-elected-officials/

A Chinese Communist flag flew over Philadelphia, the birthplace of the United States, and Boston of Tea Party fame.      From the article:

In response to the criticism, the Philadelphia Mayor’s office acknowledged the concerns raised by various opposing groups, but said the flag-raising events “are not a sign of support for any specific government, political party, or movement,” but are instead meant for “people with shared heritage to celebrate their backgrounds and experiences.”

50+ million Chinese peasant farmers unavailable for comment.

That tears it.  If your elected officials don't have the instincts to know what kinds of "cultural appreciation" are appropriate, you need to tell them.  Loudly.  And often.
